Its Christmas time as everyone knows, its time for cold and snow. Its also time for ridiculously over priced sweaters that make your eyes bleed just from looking at them. Not to mention the dozens of classic Christmas movies that plague television screens from the end of Thanksgiving to the start of the new year. Every one of the cheesy Christmas movies generally follow the same guidelines. The character usually takes things that should be held dear for granted. Then usually a supernatural figure takes these things away from the character. Then the have to learn a life lesson in order to restore what has been striped from them. These films inevitable end up becoming pretty similar. Like the movies The Family Man and It's a Wonderful Life. The only difference that I really noticed was the supernatural figure that took the family's away. In The Family Man it a black guy that was trying to rob a convent store. In the movie It's a Wonderful Life its an angel that jumps from the bridge right as the main guy is about to kill himself. Instead of killing himself he jumps in to save the angel. I know that they are so similar because we watched both movies in reading the movies with Mr. Bowser. The life lessons that are presented in both films are that you should appreciate who you have because you might not like it without them. It is a respectable message that I agree with. The only problem with this message though is it is so used now a days. Just like in the movies if you have something constantly you start to not appreciate it. So just like in the movie we all need to learn a lesson and appreciate what we have before its too late.

Trying to understand the unknown is often what people try to do in tragedy. These movies try to show the proses of trying to understand. The reason they attempt too is because people feel empty when they loose loves once and friends. This is especially true for 9/11 because of the horrible way in which many passed away that day. They search for the answers or someone to blame because of the emptiness they feel inside. They just want it to go away and some feel understanding it more will help them. Some are right like in Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Oskar gets a form of closure from his quest. The films I believe are trying to show people that is ok to feel sad about things but it is not ok to shut people out. Its not ok to shut people out, that's not what your loved ones would have wanted. Neither of the movies resonate with me as you probable guessed Mr. Bowser because I believe the government had something to do with it. I'm not saying it didn't happen I just believe the Gov. knew more then they said they did. I think that they knew in advance with time to plan and counter the attack. Second I believe they put thermite in the twin towers in order to make the attack more lethal so that people would be on bard for war more. The reason Bush wanted people to want to go to war is because he wanted to make money for him and his buddies through military contracts. It makes sense because when I tell people I think the government had something to do with it they look at me like I'm insane. They ask how could you be so insensitive toward the people who passed. The government most likely knew people would have that reaction. If people think that way then no one is going to question it anymore because they don't want to get yelled at by people who believe it did happen. Which is the perfect cover for them Just saying.

1941 and Saving Private Ryan are both war films that have a deeper message then just entertainment. Most films through out time have a deeper message but non like these. 1941 was made to show the paranoia of ww2. He choose a funny way of showing it so that the message might be absorbed more. The comedy helps show the stupidity that some had towards the U.S. being invaded. Back then people were hysterically afraid of being invaded by the Japs. Pearl harbor had just happened so an invasion wasn't so far fetched to imagine for most people. Turning on the other side of war movies, the movie Saving Private Ryan takes a more serious approach. He did this so he could attempt to make the audience feel the sacrifice and bravery that they showed. They wanted you to feel the sweat blood tears and fear that they felt trying to cross that wall of lead on D Day. The serious method is used more to have a sympathy effect but in Saving Private Ryan it gives a hero effect to the film. That film is sometimes the best way to show others who have not experienced war what it is like. He made the movie to do just these things. He realized what they went through and wanted us to have a tool for understanding their pain and sacrifice. If I were Spealburge I wouldn't have changed either one because I believe it is necessary to have multiple methods and views to get a better picture.

Race changes the story almost completely. Peoples opinions and biases come through in their work. This happens all the time in the news, on TV and even with clothing brands. If someone is a republican and they work for the news their opinions on the democratic party are going to come through as they don't like them. On TV there is a show called Squidbillies. It is the most racist ,insensitive TV show towards minorities. If you couldn't guess it its made by white southerners with funny voices. Lets imagine that the show is being made by people in Mexico. The show would change because they aren't going to slander their own race. That's how it is, people aren't going to support things they don't like, don't believe in, or things that make fun of them. The same can be applied to the movies we watched. In Schindler's List  Steven Spielberg makes people go through the camps with the Jews. He really found a way to make you understand what they were going through. The reason he was able to? because he believed in it, these were his people. If that movie was being made by a former Nazi the story and our opinions would be way different. The Nazi would make it look like the Jews were the problems and insects. The Nazi wouldn't make it look like the Jews were suffering because he would believe they deserved it. The ethnicity and personal believes definitely has a huge affect on Hollywood productions and as I talked about even the way we think and talk.

Good Samaritans are people who is willing to put others above themselves. not just open a door for someone and let them in first. They are willing to jump into a freezing river to save someone or run into that house that's on fire. They have the mindset that they would rather die then walk away with the memory that they could have done something and didn't. They have the burning inside of them to do the right thing even if it might seem stupid to others. Some of these people are secret supermen that don't even know that they would risk their life for someone until an event occurs. Unfortunately these people are becoming more and more rare. Good Samaritans absolutely exist today lets look at one of the most traumatic events of the twentieth century. "The man in the red bandana." is an article about an amazing hero that faced one of the scariest moments in U.S. history with a unfathomable bravery.  During 9-11 There was a good Samaritan who kept going back to the towers and helping people find there way back down. He carried a red bandana and passed away in the towers when they collapsed that day. There is a organization that goes around and tells his courageous act with and gives out red bandana to keep his memory alive. He is what I think about when someone says good Samaritan Because of his bravery and selflessness. Everyone will remember his actions and maybe become a good Samaritan themselves.

There is a universal theme for ''Catch The Moon." and "The Bass." The General theme for those two story's is you never know if you never try. In the moon he said he would never find the Vw hub cap in the pile of hubcaps. By in the end of the story when he's lip talking to the girl through the window she gives him the motivation to go look for it. he finds it later that night after searching for it for hours but he accomplished it. In "The Bass." he keeps staring at this girl that suns herself. His parents have a cabin next to Luis which is the girl that he keeps looking at. He's so intimidated that he watches her from afar to the point were he knows all her emotions without even talking to her. He wants to go on a date with her but he thinks he's out of her league. One day he finally works up enough courage to ask her to the  concert that was that night. She says yes and he cant believe it. When it was time to pick her up he left early and went the long way to her house because he was so excited to get her. When they went to the concert she ditched him for another guy. If he hadn't have tried asking her he never would have even gotten that far. This is why You never know without trying.

The only reason people think sports helped solve racism is because it makes them work as a team. Like in the movie 42,  Jacky Robison becomes part of the professional baseball team. At first they don't like him because they don't understand that he was a good player and he was just as good as them. Then as the film progresses they get to know him better and they get to like him. Yes the teams brought them together and made them work with each other and showed them that there really isn't a difference between whites and blacks. People were going to be racist weather or not sports had black people in them. The reason is racism is a learned trait. No one is born hating anyone they are incapable of even knowing what that emotion is.  The thing is it could have been done with a survival situation as well. A similar situation of social realization could occur in the armed forces too. Which brings me to another point. If we thought it was ok for black people to die for our freedom why couldn't at least let them play ball. Next thing I'm saying is Sports could have helped people get to know Black people quicker. The thing is it would have happened eventually anyway. Things like this have happened all the time throughout history because people fear what they do not understand. Most gentleman back in the day didn't have the best education as far as ethnicity's. They though black people were faster because of a bone in their foot. In conclusion I believe education over sports helped segregation to end.

Brave Heart is an excellent movie for this bog topic. Brave Heart is a movie about an Scottish's man who is fighting against the English in order to gain their freedom. The English were controlling almost everything about the Scott,s life's. They would do anything from beat them to burn their house down for fun. Eventually as everyone does someone finally got pushed far enough to do something grate, like a revolution. It is started by a man named William Wallace. He was married at night to prevent the English from finding out. They didn't want the English knowing because the lords rape the newly married women. Wallace's girl was different she wasn't the type to just deal with it. She fought back and was killed for it. She had her throat slit and this angered Wallace into fighting the English back. He couldn't take the oppression of his people anymore. He started the Scottish revolution, and fought in it fearlessly. He wasn't afraid to be the first one to strike or to face the enemy alone. He went to see his "friend" alone which turned out to be a mistake. The lords of Scotland ended up betraying him. Wallace died a horrible death because he held his values above bodily harm. This would take incredible mental and physical strength to endure. He would have rather died than allow this to keep happening to good people. This is clearly in the hero archetype because of his willingness to sacrifice life and limb in order to help others. His sword was his hero symbol and his wife was the woman he was trying to protect with it.

Doctor Seuss has been using children's books for generations to teach us about some overlooked subjects. He does this to attempt to make us aware of what is going on. He uses it to show that if there is a problem we are usually the cause. The Lorax that speaks for the trees is a book that was published in August 12, 1971.  He wrote it to make us conscious of the horrible things we are doing to the environment. The book has the Lorax speak for the trees because truly they cannot speak for themselves. Now a days we could use a Lorax to remind ourselves of the path we are headed down. The rainforest is being eaten every day. Yet still the production only increases. It shows the dangers of water pollution too. In the Lorax the fish get out of the polluted water and walk away from the area. In real life the fish wish they had that luxury. In real life they would suffer a cruel death from poisoning or suffocation. In fact they do, there are areas all along the U.S. cost called dead zones that contain no oxygen in the water. The Dr. also warns of air pollution in the Lorax. My parents went to China to adopt my little sister and they got to see first hand the effects of air potation. When they went there they saw a gray sky. It wasn't from water vapor it was from all the factories in China. It was also because of the lack of regulations on the parts per million of pollutants in China's air. This combined made eternal grayness of the sky so man can keep producing. This is what the Lorax warns against with its ethos style writing and that this almost too late message cannot be ignored any longer.
The father and son relation ship is a complex phenomenon that scientist still don't fully understand to this day. For some reason sons tend to have a need for certain emotional gratification. The four basic emotional things they need is they need to know they matter. They need to know that their father loves them and they need to know that they are important to him. Lastly they need to know that the father is proud of them and what they do. The movie click that we just finished today was a good example on how the son urns for the fathers approval for what he does. In click the son becomes an architect because the father was also an architect. They also did a since were they have the son come in the dads office years after the son becomes and architect. They have the son come in and show the dad some build plans and ask if the father is proud. This a perfect example strait from the articles we had to read. The movie road to perdition plays into this commentary too. The part where the father in road to perdition says to his son do ever think this is your fault. The father is trying to making sure that he doesn't think it was him that was responsible. That's my boy is a grate example of several of the parts of the father son relationship. Adam Sandler doesn't want to give the kid up because he wants the kid to grow up thinking his father loved him. He also lets the kid wear whatever he wants too. This is the part were fathers let their sons know that they are proud of them and what they do. Those are three movies that properly show the father son commentary.

A characteristic of film noir  is never making you think there will be a happy ending. This movie has a representation of this. Father and son seem to have beaten the impossible. They make it to the aunts beach house, and Mike's son is playing with the dog on the beach. Mike is inside looking through the window Thinking that he might have won. Then he gets shot twice by the creeper with the camera. All while the son in in view because of the camera angle. This is a classic sign of film noir. Film noir has many more like constant smoking and fedora hats and a depressing settings with hidden meanings. Smoking was very prevalent in this movie and it is used to enhance the vibe they are trying to give off. Their trying to make you think of the "underworld" by having them smoke. Now a days when someone is smoking people generally think that they are shady. The fashion was also very important for the setting of this movie. If they are trying to nail a certain era in time they can't have them wearing cloths from 2013 if its about 1931. Setting is used critically in this movie to create a feeling to enhance the story. The use of rain is a good example. When Michel sneaks into his dads car to see what he does it is raining to symbolize. It symbolizes that his innocence was being washing away when he saw his dad kill those people. This film is a hybrid between classic writing and film noir. The reason is toward the end while Michel is on the beach right before his dad gets shot he seems happy. That misdirection makes it not film noir but it has other elements that would make it fit the category. Which is the reason I am choosing to call it a hybrid.

If I came home and there was a clone of me siting my watching TV. First I'd get my gun. Then walk up and poke him as anyone probable would. After poking him I would start thinking of all the ways I could mess with people. First I would start sending him to school. That way he would be able to do all the work and I could Relax at home. Then I would proceed to my family's relative's houses and I would play a joke on them. When they are totally freaked out why there is two of me I would explain it to them. I would tell them that a huge truck full of knifes crashed into my car. I'd say that one of the knifes was going so fast it cut me in two. Then while at the hospital the two halves regenerated. The reason I would say is that grew back would be because of x-ray radiation.  Then I would leave and let them think that happened was real. When it really was another joke. The next shenanigan would be me leaving my clone to resume my life. I would do this so it would basically be faking my own death but better. I would no longer have to pay taxes because the clone would be doing it. Also if someone saw me it wouldn't matter because I didn't fake my death I just got my clone to take my old life. Then I would start a life that had ultimate freedom. Over all having a clone would be pretty amazing. It would make school a lot easier. Lastly if cloning technology ever actually comes out teachers will be having a hard time. It would make it extremely difficult to find out whose playing hooky. Over all having a clone would be pretty amazing.

deeds compairison

The Deeds movies is similar but there are some differences. In Mr. Deeds goes to town the girl he falls in love with. in the black and white one her name is marry. But in the color movie her name is changed to pam. also the way they meat is different. In the black and white one she is walking back and she pretends to faint in front of his drive way. While in the color movie the girl is getting fake mugged by her friend and he comes to save her. Another big difference is the level of seriousness. In the black and white version it is more serious while the color is a lot more joking. This comes out in the begging of the stories where his uncle dies. in the original they have his uncle drive off a cliff in France on a day with bad weather. while in the color one they have him climbing mount Everest and he freezes. They did this to make people laugh. They did this again where he climbs on the fire truck to help fight the fire. In the original her gets on the truck and that's all you see. Where in the color film they show him going up to save the cats. They do this so they can have the guy from the news twist the story around so they can make him look insane to get ratings. They don't have the tuba in the first one because they use the cat scene to embarrass him instead of him playing the tuba. How much money is also a massive difference in the old one it is 22million dollar but in the colored one it is 40 billion and he doesn't have someone trying to sue him. overall the older one has more of consistent less hysterical type of writing to it. While the new one has a more of a crude humor to it that is more focused on getting you to laugh more then to understand the theme, message, or lesson.

                                            Technological Tyranny
The situation he finds himself in is a tragedy.  I would most likely be in his situation because I like going for night walks. Walking during the night might seem unusual but it is actually a good time for it. One reason is because during the day the sun is beating down. Also the crickets sing for you while you walk. If I happened to be in his situation I would have to say I would most likely cooperate. The reason is because if you haven’t done anything wrong then most likely the will let you go. Plus he seems from what the author said that the man is not insane. So when he gets to the mental facility he will be deemed fine . As long as the mental place has people working in it not robots. The issue with
Technology being police is that you get confusion like in this story. The technology doesn't have the ability to determine right from wrong. It can't figure out if some one is insane or just going for a walk. The Main point is we should not let our selves be consumed by technology. Or the world will become addicted to the blue screen. And technology will be the only one that goes outside.

Back to the future is a classic example of time travel consequences. For example biff is very abusive to Marty's dad in the begging. Then Marty goes back in time "accidentally" and gives his dad some excellent advice. He tells him to stand up for himself and the woman he likes, which is Marty's mom. He takes the advice and confronts biff while he is giving some unwanted attention to Lorain. He knocks biff out and wins Lorain and some confidence which he carries to the future with him.
Another good example is when Doc Brown acquires some plutonium for the machine and makes the wrong people mad. Then right when Marty and doc are about to test the time machine they roll up in a vw and gets shot by terrorists. Then Marty goes back in time in order to try and worn him about it. At first the doc doesn't want to take the chance of knowing and altering the future. Marty slips a note in the docs pocket right before he leaves the past. unfortunately he finds Marty's note and tears it up before he leaves for the future. To Marty's surprise when he goes back to the future he finds out that the doc read it anyway and put on a bullet proof vest. Sometimes the consequences of time travel work out for the better.
