There is a universal theme for ''Catch The Moon." and "The Bass." The General theme for those two story's is you never know if you never try. In the moon he said he would never find the Vw hub cap in the pile of hubcaps. By in the end of the story when he's lip talking to the girl through the window she gives him the motivation to go look for it. he finds it later that night after searching for it for hours but he accomplished it. In "The Bass." he keeps staring at this girl that suns herself. His parents have a cabin next to Luis which is the girl that he keeps looking at. He's so intimidated that he watches her from afar to the point were he knows all her emotions without even talking to her. He wants to go on a date with her but he thinks he's out of her league. One day he finally works up enough courage to ask her to the  concert that was that night. She says yes and he cant believe it. When it was time to pick her up he left early and went the long way to her house because he was so excited to get her. When they went to the concert she ditched him for another guy. If he hadn't have tried asking her he never would have even gotten that far. This is why You never know without trying.
